Hurricane Katrina

It now marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

I was 9 years old when all of this happened so my memories of all of this are from a kids point of view. Back then we didn’t live on the water and my family never experienced such brutal weather and devastation. But as an adult, who has now lived through multiple hurricanes my heart breaks for the victims. Watching your community be destroyed from a natural disaster is really traumatizing. It takes a really long time to build a city back up. Those in need truly appreciate the support of others and everyone’s prayers. I pray no other community has to go thru another natural devastation, such as a hurricane, tsunami, tornado, earthquake, and fires.

To me when it was just another storm and I thought everything was going to be okay. Playing with Barbies and Care Bears while watching this on the news. Young children usually don’t get it until they live it. Let’s hope with technology, experience, and resources, no one else will have to deal with the effect of a natural disaster!
