My Interview With Sasha Ginchev

Photographer: Casian Photography

At what age did you start acting?

SG: I started acting when I was four… but I honestly think I was rehearsing way before that.

My mom says I moved a lot when I was in her belly. Like full performances. Kicking, spinning, dramatic stretches.

When I was born, my parents called me Chucky. One second I was a sweet angel, and the next – boom! Face change. Tears  Full drama.. It’s like I have an invisible acting button.

I can still do it and cry on cue.

When did you first hear about Verticals and do you have a favorite Vertical that you have done so far?

SG: I first heard about verticals when I booked one. I was six. I know. Very professional of me. 😄

At first I didn’t even really understand what a “vertical” was. I just knew I had lines to memorize and feelings to feel. But when I got to set, it felt like this fast, exciting movie world where everything happens close up and intense.

My favorite one I’ve done is Perfect Landing Into Your Arms. I was the main child character and the emotional core of the story, which sounds very important.

I got to fly in an airplane, sit in a real helicopter, and at one point I got hit in the head with a fake plant. It was not a real plant. Everyone always asks. 😂

My favorite verticals to work on are also the ones with lots of kids. I make new friends, we rehearse together, we whisper and giggle between takes, and it feels like summer camp with cameras. That’s the best part.

Are you working on any upcoming projects that you can share with us?

SG: Yes! I have a few projects coming up that I can’t talk about yet… But I can say this summer is going to be busy and really  fun.

What I can share is that a short film called Too Late, where I play Ginny, is really taking off! It’s already received several awards, which makes me so proud of our whole team. Ginny is such a special character to me, and I loved getting to bring her to life. This spring, I’m going to another screening and I get to walk the red carpet at the TCL Chinese Theatre during the Beverly Hills Film Festival. I’m very excited about the red carpet moment. I might practice my serious movie-star face… but honestly, I’ll probably just be smiling the whole time.

If you can guest star on any tv show what tv show would it be?

SG: If I could guest star on any TV show, I would definitely pick Bunk’d. I want to see Camp Kikiwaka for real. I feel like I would totally survive camp. I’d probably be dramatic about the bugs at first… but then I’d make friends with everyone and turn it into a whole adventure. Fun, right? 😄

Do you support any organizations or charities?

SG: Yes! I love supporting causes that help people, especially kids.

I support my Girl Scout friends by buying their cookies every year. It’s very important work. Tagalongs are serious business. 🍪

I also participated in a fundraiser for the American Heart Association, which helps people take care of their hearts. I think it’s really special when kids can help other families stay healthy.

And I’m proud to support my school district’s Educational Enrichment Foundation, also known as Ed!, which helps young scholars have more opportunities to learn and grow.

I think even small actions can make a big difference, especially when we do them together. 💛

How do you spread the love?

SG: I spread the love by making things with my hands and my imagination.

I love arts and crafts. If there’s paper, glue, glitter, stickers, or paint nearby, I’m probably already working on something. Sometimes it’s a card. Sometimes it’s a tiny surprise. Sometimes it’s a full masterpiece that takes over the entire dining table – I call it my “art center”.

I also love writing and illustrating little books. I make up stories, draw the characters, and design the covers like they’re real bookstore books. Then I give them to my most precious people. It feels special to hand someone a story that only exists because you made it just for them.

I think love is more fun when you create it.

Would you like to share your social media platforms with us?

SG: Yes! You can find me on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok at @sasha.ginchev.

I love sharing behind-the-scenes moments from set, little creative projects, and fun parts of my everyday life. Sometimes it’s acting, sometimes it’s crafting, sometimes it’s just me being me.

Come say hi! 💕✨
