My Interview With Venice May Wong

Photographer: Ena Hallett (Delfina)

At what age did you start acting?

VW: “Hello, Madisyn! Thank you so much for this interview—I hope you’re having a fabulous day. I started acting when I was 10 years old. It all began at Riverside Children’s Musical Theatre, where I landed my first lead role as Wendy in Peter Pan.”

Since you’re a singer, what type of songs do you like to sing?

VW: “I’ve always loved different genres of music. My parents introduced me to 80s classics when I was little, and we’d listen to them all the time on the way to school. So, when my siblings and I started performing live gigs around nine, we naturally included a lot of those 80s songs—and I still love them! As I got older, my taste expanded to pop and alternative music. Some of my favorite artists now are Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan.”

Are you woking on any new projects that you would like to share with us?

VW:“ Yes! I recently landed my first lead role in a feature film alongside Nathan Gamble, Kevin Sorbo, and Sean Patrick Flanery. The movie, Miracle of the Precipice directed by Todd Sims, is set to release in early 2025. It’s a family adventure with action and suspense, where a family’s hiking trip takes a dramatic turn when their father has an accident. I play the adopted daughter Charity.  Another new project I’m working on, in the voice over world is  that I am voicing a new  character, Emerald, who is Jade’s little sister, on Rainbow High, which has always been one of my favorite animated series.  Another current project – I’m playing the role of Natalie on the BRAT TV series, “ The 4 PM Club”. Natalie is an ambitious middle schooler who dreams of making the Forbes 30 under 30 list. She’s determined to reach her goals, even if it sometimes lands her in detention. I get to work with an amazing cast, like  Kaido Lee Roberts, Peja, Eva Blythe, Misha Bautista, and Ayiah Soufie. We have a holiday special coming up that BRAT fans won’t want to miss!” So stay tuned.

What do you do on your free time?

VW: “In my free time, I love going shopping, catching up on sleep, and spending time with my friends, brothers, and family. And, like any other teen, I help out with household chores.”

How do you spread the love?

VW: “I spread love through music by performing with my band, “The Wong Quadruplets.”  Music has a way of connecting people and reaching their hearts—it can bring happiness, comfort, and even inspiration. My brothers and I aim to share positivity through our songs. We play covers and have two original songs, plus our newest single, To Be You. It’s about staying true to yourself and not getting caught up in fake popularity. The message is about valuing authenticity and honesty over trying to fit in.” Do stay tuned on our socials for her release date.

Do you support any organizations or charities?

VW: “Yes, I recently supported the Skechers Friendship Walk, which raises funds for children with special needs and educational programs in Southern California. Held in Manhattan Beach, it’s a family-friendly event that brings the community together with entertainment, activities, and special guest appearances. Proceeds benefit the Friendship Foundation, which supports children with disabilities, and various educational foundations in the area.”
